Fabufit | Finding your Purpose - Be honest with yourself – you hate your job!
Do you wake up on a Monday morning and dread another hum drum day at the office? Does your heart sink on a Sunday night at the thought of going to work the next day? When you are at work, do you find yourself counting the minutes till the day is over? Do you just feel generally unhappy and unfulfilled by your job or the career you are currently in, then this is definitely a sign that you are not living your purpose.

Finding your Purpose – Be honest with yourself, you hate your job!

Truth be told this is how I have been feeling for the past few years. I have been very unhappy in my “day job” for various factors. I have been asking myself these tough questions everyday and realised that my passions have shifted. Every person has a divine purpose they have been put on earth to do. As we get older, that voice guiding us to our purpose gets drowned out by all the other voices around us – ie, our parents expectations, society’s expectations, our fears etc. The further we drift from our purpose the emptier we feel and years later we don’t even know how we landed up where we are, we are stuck in jobs/careers that we are unhappy to be doing.

This new series I am doing in collaboration with qualified Life Coach Simone Naidoo is called “Finding your Purpose” and ties in with the first series “Self-Love”. I’ll let Simone explain how. We are so excited about this new series! No one should be forced to be stuck in a job/career that is making them miserable. If your job is the place you spend the most time, then should it not be somewhere you love being, a job that fulfils you and that you don’t dread going to. We are not saying, that your ideal job won’t have its bad days or challenges, it will, but it will always still be an enjoyable experience at the end of the day.

Simone says…

So coming off the high of the ‘Self Love’ Series we are thrilled to be back!

“When I truly love myself, I spend my time doing work I love and working for and with people I love.”

This affirmation is what your life CAN be! However for 90% of people, it’s a far cry from their REALITY. Self love is living your purpose. Period! The thinking is simple, when you love your work, when you are using your creative gifts and talents to serve others, life works and you are fulfilled and live with joy. You therefore love life and hence yourself.

So as with any journey, this purpose journey starts with self awareness. And I’ve put together a check-list you can test yourself against to know FOR SURE if you are living your purpose or not.

Here it is…

  1. You wake up with negative thoughts and feelings about the work you are about to do that day.
  2. You end the day fatigued and drained.
  3. You ‘see no point’ to the work you do. No bigger picture.
  4. You are always needing to force yourself to complete work tasks.
  5. You could think of a million other things you’d rather do than work.
  6. You don’t feel inspired to grow in your work and give more in all you do at work.
  7. The only reason you stay is for the salary and certainty.
  8. Your work feels like a job/obligation/responsibility vs. a force that is pulling you towards your life’s vision.
  9. You DON’T love(LIKE) the people you work for and/or with.
  10. Your work doesn’t reflect who you are.

If you ticked 2 or more of these statements, then you need this blog series.
